一名人权律师被卷入监狱暴动，他为了生存而伪装成囚犯，逐渐融入其中后，他内心的阴暗也因混乱的局面和丧亲之痛浮出水面。。该片讲述塔卢拉从一位不负责任的母亲那里偷得婴儿后，当起假妈妈。佩吉饰演的塔卢拉无家可归，吃睡住皆在一辆货车上。而在华盛顿广场公园的戏份中，佩吉开始溺爱地照顾窃来的婴儿。。"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。
